carved out basement

during my never-ending searching through old and new maps, i have found a small hole in a forest behind some commie block. the entrance did seem to be very tight from the single photo someone posted online, however that should be no issue for a skinny person like me.
the journey began at 11am, when i met up with my partner in crime somewhere in the town. we ate at a local fast food and made our way towards the hole, not knowing what to expect at all. we arrived at the place. it was behind a building, on it's backyard. we sat at the nearby playground for a while, waiting for people and cars to go by.
once the area was clear of any residents and passer-by, we went around the building to it's parking, from where it was just a few meters to a higher ground. there it was, the mysterious hole. it was big enough to fit into without any trouble. i got my camera out, threw in the backpack and slided straight in. when enxploring places like these, the darkness and silence immediately surrounds you. it's just you and your meaninigless thoughts. and in this case my mate.
we were not the first people to be here, since there was loads of trash on the ground along with long stripes of linoleum, most likely so the habitants of this hole don't get mud on their shoes. there was a trashed sleeping spot near the entrance. it seemed like the resident hasn't been home for a while. there were graffiti on the walls - nothing amazing, just some white unreadable texts. we walked for a bit with seeing nothing but the lights from our flashlights, and arrived at a junction. we chose a random direction and went along the hallways. there were fireplaces and junk all around. the space looked like an old carved out basement, a place where people stored food and other goods in the cold. these kinds of basements are very common around here, but are usually closed off, since people still use them. this one, however. was left to rot and serve as a shelter for the citizens without a place to sleep. each hallway ended with a room, above one of those was a smiley face. looking into one of the rooms, this one was empty, unlike some others we found later on. suddenly, there was a sharp turn in the tunnel we were going through. there was a glimpse of light on the other side - a second entrance to the complex. this one was much larger than the one we entered though, so we decided we would leave through this one. an old palett laying next to the exit, someone probably slept on this before it cracked. going back to the mined out hallways, as we haven't explored the whole thing just yet. we stumbled upon a large trashed room, with a bunch of tires put on a branch and something which seemed like a rocket on a stick. there were papers with some russian text on them, probably from some other explorers, or more likely vandals who were here before us. i do not know what the text says. a pair of glasses similar to what pilots used to have back in the day. another piece of paper with russian text. the other rooms were empty, with only trash on the ground. there was nothing interesting in that, mostly beer cans. we have decided to wander through the hallways for the final time and leave. back at the smiley face. finally seeing sunlight again. the second entrance - an exit for us. from the outside. this entry is much bigger than the one we chose to enter through. it had what seemed to be an old portal frame around it. the tunnels were quite short - walking through the entire thing wouldn't take long. we have spent around 30 minutes in them, mostly due to us stopping everywhere and taking photos. also don't forget that the time is ticking very differently in underground and dark places.
