a brick kiln

built as far back as the 18th century, a brick kiln rests abandoned in a small forest. it is surprisingly in a very good condition for something this old, and that's why it has been listed as an object of historical interest. this is where the kiln was loaded with coal. it was used to make bricks up to the 50s, abandoned around the year 1947. let's take a look inside. it's sad that buildings like this have outstanded a century but nowadays are left to rot instead of being a place for wanderers to stop by. actually, i take that back. maybe it's better this way.. due to the amount of people climbing to the top, bricks are falling out. the future doesn't seem that bright to the kiln. looking down through one of the vent, the sun was shining from the back. it's hard to see but this is an autoportrait - there's my shadow somewhere in there! there was not much of interest around, with the exception of trash and a dead deer. no entry? that's a shame. oh well, too late. detail of the chimney, you can still see remnants of some metal reinforcement. a glimpse of light shined at the entrance just as i was about to leave.
goodbye to you too <3
